The Special and Primary Headteachers Group (SPHG) organise a range of additional professional development opportunities. The main purpose of this group is to discuss current issues and topics and to share information.

Induction of new Headteachers in Sutton

Sutton provides all new and acting headteachers with:

• An Information and Induction File
  
  
• A comprehensive set of information about key aspects of Sutton borough and Sutton education service.
  
  
• Additional Link Inspector time. Two extra days of Link Inspector time during the first year in post regardless of their school’s category.
  
  
• Support from an experienced Headteacher acting as mentor.
  
  
• Two days of support during the first year in post from an experienced Headteacher.
  
  
• An induction meeting within the first month in post.
  
  
• An induction meeting which provides an opportunity to meet senior officers of the Local Authority.
  
  

Sutton also assists new and acting heads in accessing support from the local Early Headship Programme (EHP) provider – Southern Educational Leadership Trust (SELT).
