Sutton EAL Advisory Team

Edit this page

In Sutton we are lucky to have a central, peripatetic advisory team for the inclusion of EAL pupils. Support for pupils at the early stages of learning English is available on a termly basis, at no cost to schools. Schools with ongoing need may be allocated support for a maximum of two consecutive terms. Schools within Category 3 of the Sutton Support and Intervention programme retain support beyond two terms if the level of pupil need remains high.

Schools can apply for support using Form A circulated to schools in Spring 2007. Information from this will help to inform the team when allocating support.

Support is currently allocated using the following criteria:
Assessment visits and resulting advisory reports for newly arrived pupils are also available at no cost to schools.

To book an assessment of a newly arrived pupil contact Angela Palmer or Kate Evans.

The team also provides advice and training for schools, tailored to your school needs and context. Charges for advice, consultancy and training are the same as for all other AIS daily and hourly rates. Full details of costs for AIS consultancy bookings for 2008/09 are available here (PDF File 26KB).
